First, let me say, this is not the Jumbo Lodge Platter. It's smaller, and I just love it. This platter can be used in so many ways, that it can become a real special tool for you in the kitchen, inside or out. You can use it heated up for serving meat from the grill, and you can use it Cold (Chilled) from the fridge, with your hamburger fixins on it. Keeps them cold and all in one place. Lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, relish, and the list goes on and on. They can also be used on the grill, to cook up sliced onions, green peppers, and any number of other things, including veggies. I also will use them to put my hamburgers on when I'm ready to put the cheese on them, it keeps the cheese on the burger and if not, I can scoop it up and get it on the burger not in the grill. I will use them to fry potatos and onions, a faorite here, and eggs on this platter are outstanding. Bacon, ham slices, you name it, it all works.
The INSIDE measurements are 5 1/2" x 8 3/4" and perfect for your stovetop burner too. You have to try this, it's amazing the things I have found to do with these platters, and I really love using them.

This my first Amazon review. The platter is great. A typical Lodge product well done, feels good in your hands, looks good on the grill. But the shipping is something that detracts from a full five star rating is the shipping cost compared to the quality of packaging. I paid $8.50 for shipping. Not an unreasonable amount, even though it was two-thirds of the cost. But when I received the package, I was shocked at the haphazard packaging. Considering this is cast iron, and cast iron is known to be brittle, wouldn't you expect a cast iron platter to be well cushioned for shipping? Not these guys. They just took a box, put the platter in at an angle because the box wasn't even large enough to lay flat, and sent it out. I'm still surprised that the platter actually arrived in one piece. If I could, I'd attach a pic of the platter in the box just so you all could see it to believe it. Other than that, I really like the platter.
