I've been on an American made mission for a few years and wanted to replace my very expensive Chinese made Stainless steel cookware with All Clad which is made in America. I buy one piece of All Clad pot a month on sale and was desparate for a non-stick pan which seemed to take forever to go on sale. My husband and son kept cooking eggs in the regular saute pan and it was a hassle to clean it. I found out that Nordic Ware was making cookware (they are famous for their bundt pans). I checked Amazon and found this pan for less than 1/4 of what All Clad would cost me on sale. I read that the pan was lightweight so I was surprised how heavy it is. I would call it medium weight and only slightly lighter than my All Clad pan of the same size. The difference is that the Nordic Ware has a hollow handle. It also has a dull, brushed aluminum look exterior (although it is steel) as opposed to the shiny stainless exterior but for what I paid I can overlook it. I'm really happy with the pan and with not having to scour eggs and other sticky things out of the pan. I love All Clad but I'm really impressed with Nordic Ware and it is American made. You could spend two to three times more for cheap Chinese made pans

The pan seems to be a little shallow and a little lightweight but it has not warped or failed me. In general, reviews of less expensive pans suggest that the nonstick surface wears off over time. I will not feel bad about replacing this pan when the time comes because it was reasonably priced. It looks like you need to get into the $200 to $300 range to get a really high quality pan. For the price, this one is an overall good deal.

This pan works great with induction. I am using it with a Duxtop 8300ST and a Nuwave PIC PRO. I tested with boiling water and the bubbles were as evenly distributed as my steel/copper/aluminum/stainless steel clad pan.

I wanted a pan for surface cooking that was also oven-safe. When I took it out of the package, I could see that it wasn't flat to a surface, but I figured it would sorta do on the cook-top. Well, NO. It warped with heat and was really uneven. It flattened out as it cooled, to the original un-levelness, but so what --still unlevel. What a disappointment from Nordic Ware, a company that has produced other products that for me have been quite satisfactory.

I have had this set for about a month and have had a chance to use them enough to have an opinion. They are well balanced and perform well, especially the sauce pans and stock pot. The 8 quart stock pot is large enough for a family of 4-6. Cuisinart advertises you can use metal utensils, but when you read their recommended use card, it says metal utensil will scratch the surface. That is a misleading marketing gimmick in my opinion.

My main complaint with the Cuisinart cookware is they heat up very quickly due to the thin 3 mm thickness. The fry pans are the weakest items of the set. After side-by-side comparisons against Emeril's All-Clad Hard Anodized, I much prefer the Emeril brand. The Emeril pans are 5 mm thick and seem to cook more evenly and are not near as temper-mental as the Cuisinarts.

For not much more money, I would look at the higher quality Emeril Hard Anodized set; and sorry Amazon, the best deals for Emerilware are using one of those 20% off coupons at Bed Bath and Beyond or Linens N Things.

As always, you will never find a perfect cookware. This Cuisinart 7 piece is no exception. It is great but not perfect. Its light weight is very impresive and handle isn't that hot after long period of cooking time. Easy to clean. The non-stick surface is better than other brand. It takes very short time to heat up stuff too. However, couple weaknesses, the lit does not have a small hole to release pressure which we have to watch out for overheat spill. Plus the lit is not the same design as the pot itself, it heats up really quick. So be careful. It is not a good idea to buy plastic handle with the lit, it will deform and loose after a while. Over all, it is better than what I expected even though I have owned this set of cookware for 4 weeks.

The coating of these pans started to come off after two years. The cuisinart customer service was good and replaced 3 of these pans already. However, the coating in one of the new ones is starting to come off again. They would be great if this didn't happened.

Good quality leather and stitching. I have never had a hot coal land on my chest; but if it were to happen, I would feel protected in this leather apron. Also protects my clothing from spills and has 2 nice deep pockets. It's not as heavy as it appears, so it's not a burden to wear it for a while.

I did not have an issue with the lower strap. I tie it in a loose square knot, which holds well and is not too difficult to untie to take off.

The top strap took a few minutes to figure out, but it has held ever since I got it tight. I just leave that one tied, and slip it on and off over my head.

I actually like the look and feel of the straps, but the loops for the top do leave something to be desired. Still, I was able to get it tied within just a few minutes and everything else about this apron more than makes up for that.

I bought this apron for my boyfriend, who does all of the cooking in our house. While the apron is nice and heavy, the strap doesn't work. No matter how we loop the strap through the 2 rings, the strap ends up slipping out. We've knotted the strap around the rings instead.

For $32 this is a sweet deal, I have leather "work shop aprons" costing way more that are nowhere near as nice nor functional. nor large. I can wear this in my shop or my kitchen never mind the BBQ . It's not quite as thick as my shop apron so it's more flexible It's big too, adequately covers my 220# frame and the waist tie goes right around my 38" waist and ties still in front!

The nicest thing is it is lined so it hangs better over whatever you are wearing, I wear this almost daily, mostly in my kitchen. I haven't seen any aprons with this sort of protection and versatility. If all you use it for is BBQ its going to be wasted on you.( Just kidding.) I recommend this apron

I received this pan as a gift about 2 years ago. I wasn't familiar with the seasoning process or how to care for cast-iron, so it wasn't effective and it sat in the bottom of the pan drawer. About a year ago, I learned about the seasoning process and how to care for cast iron, so I figured I'd give it another go.

This has now become the go-to pan for me, and I use it to cook everything. My Calphalon stainless set sits idle most days now.

It's a little frustrating at first (like any cast-iron), but once you have a good season, you can cook pretty much anything and clean-up takes literally one minute with hot water and a plastic scotch-brite pad.

My only complaint about the square pan is not having a cover that fits, but I think it makes up for it by having almost 30% more cooking area than a circle pan of the same dimensions.

This is a good, heavy pan that is very adaptable for many types of cooking. I love the shape because I can make breads with sautéed ingredients in one pan and because of the square shape, it is easily served. It is also great for steak that is started on the stovetop and finished in the oven. I appreciated not having to season the pan before the first use.

Large pans like this one need to be on large burners to keep their balance. They heat very evenly (no hot spot) they keep warm even after off the burner, so carryover cooking must be kept in mind, giving you the chance to finish other dishes while the one on this pan keep cooking in the pan alone.

Excellent product, I own other pans by Gordon and they are all excellent. I cook pretty much every day. Clean them right after use and they will last for ever. Very comfortable to sue handles. The best thing about them when it comes to money is that they are a high quality product for half the price of All-Clad brand, and they are built in the same way (high quality alluminum sandwiched between 18/10 stainless steel)

Navigating the cookware maze? Boil it down to 3 key decisions:

1) Non-Stick vs. Anything Else

Non-Stick = Not dishwasher safe, average life of 2-8 years, some believe there are health concerns, a million color/style options. If you do decide to go nonstick, Anolon is arguably the best right now and at least a solid starting place to look.

Anything Else = Ultimately you go stainless. There's a bevy of reasons stainless is mandated in commercial world, sanitation and longevity being two. You can buy a stainless set that lasts, in theory, for life. Dishwasher safe. A lot of the latest offerings stick very little... and perform on par w/non-stick when using a light coating.

Face it, you buy non-stick out of laziness. Well, I'd rather my dishwasher clean off the "stick" than my hand have to clean off the "non-stick".

2) Ok, so I'm going stainless! What now?

Once again you have two choices... All Clad brand or Cuisinart brand. Anything else is at best "close", or worse "nowhere near as good". These are the two top brands, and are what you'll typically find in people's homes who cook for a living.

All Clad is an excellent choice, but ultimately you pay a little more and get fewer "nice touches" like lids and design elements. Some claim All Clad is harder to clean up as well. While I don't advocate letting a small price difference sway you on something that will last decades, in this case you really get a slightly better product with Cuisinart. If you fancy a particular offering from All Clad though, you won't regret your choice.

3) OK, so you've sold me on Cuisinart. What should I choose?

You've found this listing so you're in the right place. There are three tiers:

MultiClad Pro Widest selection, utility in mind. The pro line you buy to use for a generation. Has about every pot/pan permutation you can think of available.

MultiClad Unlimited Like MultiClad Pro but with anodized finish that I like better. Unfortunately has fewer options (e.g. only a 2 & 4 quart saucepan). Ultimately this is a tool so I go with the more varied pro line. The Pro has stood the test of time and is clearly the more popular choice for a reason. (**Update I think I've found why Unlimited is less popular on cuisinart's site it appears the anodized unlimited dose not work on induction whereas pro does. Pro works on induction, halogen, glass ceramic, gas, and electric which covers everything.**)

Chef's classic Tier below Unlimited. Don't be tempted, the price difference isn't that great.

Note that back in the day there was copper clad, but that's basically a gimmick. Copper heats quickly, but there isn't enough on the pan to make a functional difference so you'd only buy them because they are prettier on the outside. (They aren't offered anymore so you won't be tempted.)

Other points:

*Price: Currently as of 10/2012 it's around $275. (**Update 11/2012 Looks like Amazon is pricing this cheap for the holidays, currently at $243. That's the same price as the older MCP-12 and a pretty good deal. Normally I would expect to see this price at around $260.**)

*If you haven't heard of it, buy some "barkeeper's friend". Even the cookware manufacturers recommend it. This stuff will fix virtually anything that you can't otherwise clean away. (Only need to use it when all else fails.)

Bar Keepers Friend® Cleanser & Polish: 12 OZ

*If you're still wavering, check out the reviews on the previous version of this set (MCP-12). At time of this writing it was 572 reviews and averaged 4.5 stars. A ton of people own this set and are happy with it. That means you are very likely to be happy too. Here's a link to the previous model where you can read reviews to your heart's content:

Cuisinart MCP-12 MultiClad Pro Stainless Steel 12-Piece Cookware Set

*Differences between the older MCP-12 and this set MCP-12N:

About $15 bucks as of 10/2012

Handle Design

(Yep that's about it)

*If this is all the pots/pans you'll ever need and you want to save a few bucks, I'd suggest watching the MCP-12 set for a deal as it phases out. If you have dreams of adding to this set over the coming years then you're going to have to get the MCP-12N as you don't know how much longer the MCP-12 model offerings will be available and you'd wind up with a mismatched set.

*Cooking an egg on stainless is still a pain... you just can't beat non-stick for that. Go buy a single non-stick skillet if you just have to have that. I did.

***---Update 11/22/12 based on the 18/10 question I keep getting---***

I keep seeing comments and questions re: "Is this stainless really 18/10?" and "Rumor has it they went cheap and this is no longer 18/10 stainless". Allow me to address in a single reply here...

1) Yes these are 18/10. Amazon even updated their description to say so now. You can also call Cuisinart to be 100% sure (they are usually very customer friendly).

2) That being said, realize that there are 3 components. The pans are "clad" pans. First you have the outer stainless, then the middle aluminum core (for heat distribution), and then the interior stainless. Realize that the outer stainless layer is NOT 18/10. Nor should it be. This is because that would make the pans unsuitable for induction ranges. That outer stainless is more likely to be 18/0 ("magnetizeable" stainless), but I'm not exactly sure what it is and can only guess.

3) This isn't something manufacturers do to save money. Pure 18/10 pans would suck and not heat evenly. It's just something that they have to do because of the laws of physics. Aluminum in the core layer for heat distribution and non-18/10 on the outer layer for induction ranges. All-Clad does it the same way and shows such illustration on their site.

4) I think that's the reason this weird rumor is circulating about various cookware not being 18/10. All the makers that have been making their gear 18/10 are still doing so. It's just that the outer layer isn't 18/10... only the inner layer, handles, lids, etc. The 18/0 is good stainless, it just has different physical properties.

5) Last, just in case anyone is bored enough to care about the metallurgy: In 18/10 the 18 = the % chromium, the 10 is the % nickel. 18/10 is "Austenitic" or 304 grade stainless. If a magnet sticks to your pan there's a layer somewhere that is not 18/10 nor aluminum (neither are magnetic). In 18/0 stainless it's 430 grade, the chromium still provides strength and corrosion resistance but the nickel is swapped out making the alloy magnetic. 18/0 is cheaper, and the absence of nickel makes the steel alloy more susceptible to pitting. That's the tradeoff. Otherwise the pan would not work on an induction range since it would not be magnetic. (More than even I wanted to know, but wikipedia is so addicting.)

Maybe that helps.

***---End of 11/22/12 Update based on the 18/10 question I keep getting---***

Pros:

+Really good looking (I greatly prefer the brushed exterior over polished)

+Set includes a lid that will fit each pan (not all at the same time, though)

+Curved lip for easy pouring

+Includes exactly the pieces I'd want

+Overall build quality rivals that of sets costing 2x the price or more

+Will probably last a lifetime

Cons:

-Does take a bit of work to get used to and maintain (proper preheating and use of oil as well as a bit more elbow grease to clean over non-stick)

-Questionable warranty (representative placed strong emphasis on the word "LIMITED" before "Lifetime", customer pays shipping BOTH WAYS).

After doing quite a bit of research, I decided to purchase this set of pans over any set I found locally or online. At 209 bucks, I really feel like this was a bargain (it's worth 300, realistically), especially with its excellent and beautiful construction. It's try-ply CLAD, which means three layers (Magnetized Stainless, Aluminum Core, 18/10 Stainless) are used throughout the pan, including up the side walls. Note that not all tri-ply cookware is like this; be careful of "try-ply BASE" cookware which only uses this setup on the bottom of the pan (they're easy to spot because they have a seam around the base of the pan).

I almost went for the Tramontina Tri-Ply Clad pieces you can pick up for a reasonable price at Wal-Mart, but decided against it as this set looks better visually and includes all the pieces I wanted; finding all the Tramontina pieces I'd need looked like quite a chore.

I didn't believe that I'd be able to cook on such low heat given the fact that my glass electric cooktop has taken so long to cook things in the past, but it really does work great. I pre-heat on level 5 (out of 10) until a water drop "skates" on the cooking surface, then back the heat off to 3.5 for a consistent cooking temp. Works great, seems to cook faster than my previous cookware at higher heat, PLUS no warping on any of these pans so they actually lay flat on my range.

If you understand the pros and cons of cooking in stainless and decide to go with it over non-stick, this set is the one to look at if you want something to last a lifetime.

The biggest negative for this set is the questionable support. Half of this assertion is based on other peoples' experiences I've read about, and half is for my own experience. I received my set with a dented lid (probably put in the package dented), and Cuisinart's support told me I'd be better off working with Amazon to resolve it since I'd have to pay shipping BOTH WAYS on a defective-out-of-the-box product. He also made sure to place emphasis on the word "Limited" in "Limited Lifetime Warranty", strongly implying that they reserved the right to not cover certain aspects of failure. Interesting, considering mine had arrived with a defective piece straight away. If you end up needing to use your warranty, be prepared to pay nearly as much in shipping (two ways) as a brand new replacement for the piece.

Best Deals for Download Cuisinart MCP-12N MultiClad Pro Stainless Steels

I ordered this set due to a great deal that was offered a few weeks back, making the set more affordable than the older model. This model, MCP-12N is the new version (with improved handle shaping and placement-I contacted Cuisinart to ask about the difference) of the MCP-12. I've always had cheap model Revereware, or bought scratch and dent pans from stores. This is the first nice set of cookware I've ever purchased. I was skeptical because I read ALL reviews on the older model. There were some negative ones, and I was leary. While affordable, they are still priced higher than what I'm used to buying. Oh-about price; I checked several places and Amazon's price has yet to be beat.

I was provided an estimated delivery date between the first and second week of November. Then Amazon sent me an email last week stating the pots would be available sooner. They arrived this past Monday, and I LOVE them! I've only cooked 3 meals so far, but I've used quite a bit of the pots to do so. The lids are awesome--light, easy to hold because the handle bends high (your knuckles don't touch the hot lid), and they seal wonderfully while cooking. I have a smooth-top stove and these are working great. On other reviews from the older model, I saw complaints about sticking but I have not had that problem. I have cooked eggs, sausage, veggies, I've steamed veggies in the steamer insert...etc. I have experienced no problems, and only use a light spray of olive or canola spray. I have no spots, no stains, no discoloration so far. I did grab barkeepers friend from the store (sorry Amazon, but that stuff is much cheaper in the stores than online) based on other review suggestions but I don't need it yet. These are so easy to clean.

The construction of this cookware is wonderful. They are sturdy, the handles are very sturdy (and the long handles really do stay cool on the stove top, but the "helper" handles get hot if you are boiling/steaming with a lid on). They are heavy enough to show their great construction and material, but not too heavy to handle and move between stove, sink, cabinets, etc. I highly recommend this set especially if you are looking for a higher quality cookeware, but can't pay $600 over $1000 for some. I was fortunate to grab these at a lower price than currently showing today. I will definitely purchase add on cookware from the Multi-Clad Pro line to add to my collection as I need. I see there are nice multi-use pots/pans from this line and I can't wait to build my set. The set in this offer is wonderful and has everything you need.

Honest reviews on Download Cuisinart MCP-12N MultiClad Pro Stainless Steels

Bought this set for myself on Mother's Day. :)

The set arrived about one week earlier than the Amazon-specified delivery date. (I shipped it overseas.)

The set is very beautiful and heavy. The first time I used it (10-inch skillet), the food got stuck a bit, but it's because I wasn't very good at using stainless steel to cook. I actually started to learn how to deglaze my sautee pan and so on, and it's been great experimenting and learning new recipes. I also made small omelets for my 2 year-old son with the 8-inch skillet, and they do not stick to the pan at all. (Note: heat the skillet first, then add some butter and heat it, then add the eggs.... Cooks beautifully.)

Cleaning is very easy and fast. I wash with warm water and soap with a wash cloth, nothing abrasive, then towel dry. There are some mineral spots (the water in my area is quite mineral-heavy), but it's a minor issue. I do not use Barkeepers Friend. So far I've not had any reason to do so.

I'll update my review after I use the set for a while.

UPDATE AFTER 1 WEEK OF USE:

I'm reducing the rating by one star because the set scratches so easily. I don't use any metal utensils, just wooden and plastic spatulas, and I can see scratches all over some of the pots and pans. I can't decide what I want to do about it yet. A part of me wants to return, but another part of me wonders if the replacement set will scratch easily as well.

UPDATE AFTER 2 WEEKS:

I have no choice but to return this set. I can't believe the pots are pitted after only a couple of uses -mostly to boil water or to heat cream-based soup! I have no idea if it's normal or not. I always used medium or low heat w/ the set. I'm very disappointed. Cuisinart CS was not helpful. I'll buy a set from a different maker.

I have an All-Clad 12" fry pan, which I love. I neither love nor hate the handle (which polarizes people w.r.t. All-Clad), but regardless of your position in that debate, I can't imagine anyone who would say that the Cuisinart MCP-N handles are LESS comfortable than All-Clad. The pans have the same heft and feel as All-Clad, with the addition of better handles. The styling is so similar, in fact, that nobody would guess your All-Clad stuff didn't go with this set. The lids are great (another complaint people tend to have about All-Clad... few things come with lids), and each fry pan fits one of the lids included in the set (great for melting cheese on sandwiches/burgers, etc.). Any complaints about staining/sticking in the reviews are, in my opinion, from people who either don't know how to use stainless cookware (either during cooking or cleanup), or who have unrealistic expectations about a permanent, no-maintenance, lifetime shiny finish. You should buy this set if you intend to actually cook with it (and you will love it... it can take the abuse, and still looks and performs great); if you're just going to baby and polish it all the time, go for something WAY cheaper.

I thought these were hand-sized slip-over mitten-like things, but when the two I ordered arrived, they were the tiny little pot handle mittens. It DOES say very clearly in the product description that they are a handle mitt (now that I re-read it), and I can use them, but I think they are WAY overpriced for what they are. But they are very, very nice, so they get five stars. Just don't do what I did and think they are something other than what they are.

I lit mine on fire the first day I used it! It still works, but you don't wish to leave this on a cast iron skillet while the skillet is on the flame, which kinda defeats the purpose, right?

I have been an avid user of cast iron for two decades and have used a variety of pots/skillets/dutch ovens/griddles for cooking darn near everything. I've used them for everything from cooking trout over a camp fire to making gourmet sauces for special occasions.

This is the first book I have seen devoted to the wonder of cast iron. But that's not what makes it such a great cook book.

The recipes are simple, filling and very good. Everything I have made so far has been a hit with my kids and hasn't left a huge mess of my kitchen. The skillet comes full from the oven or stove, goes straight to the table, and leaves empty. Many recipes can be finished easily in the short amount of time most of us have between arrriving home from work and when kids start howling with hunger. For those recipes that don't, I have made them one night and heated them through the next with great results.

I highly recommend this book for anyone wishing to serve good food easily. That it comes from cast iron is an extra benefit!

This cookbook is awesome. I needed to replace my old non-stick cookware and decided to buy cast iron cookware. AND of course I needed a cookbook for cast iron cooking. This cookbook has so many great receipes, everyone of the receipes sounds mouth watering delicious. I have already tried several recipes from this cookbook, and my family loves them. I'm so glad I switched to cast irson, everything tastes great in cast iron.

I purposely chose this book for the history it offered. Since recently returning to cast iron cookware, I wanted to know what other cooks have learned. Kind of like looking over Grandma's shoulders...soaking up her wisdom and experiences. Well this book offeres lots of Grandmothers AND Grandfathers who are experienced cooks!

I noticed one of the previous reviewers called the recipes "quirky." I personally have to disagree. The example the reviewer used was "Strawberry Pizza," pg 178. It's baked on a pizza pan as any fruit pizza would be. I did not find anything I'd call bizare. All the recipes I've seen are what I am used to seeing and preparing, plus a few unexpected surprises...

For instance, page 39 starts a section just for cornbread recipes. 26 different recipes for cornbread...I grew up on just one recipe. I really can't wait to try "Ultimate Cornbread" (pg 48) which has sour cream and cheddar cheese listed as ingredients.

This book also offers all the other chapters you would expect to find; breads, veggies, eggs/cheese, poultry, fish, meat, etc.

All the recipes offer us a suggested pan to use, the names of the author(s) and sometimes a little story to go with the recipe.

I've truly enjoyed reading this cookbook. All in all, a delightfull, fun cookbook to use whether or not you are a fan of cast iron cookware!

I do hope this review helps you...

This is the most useful cookbook I have ever purchased. Good, homecooked recipes. My country husband loves the fact that his city wife is picking up on country cooking. I never knew there were so many ways to make biscuits!

I have been buying my fry pans at a restaurant supply but got tired of the declining quality. This is a very good product. As always, let cool before putting under the water or you will warp the pan bottom I am sure. This is a very sturdy product with a superior non stick finish. I will let you know in five years or so if it held up to my expectations. By the way, it holds a whole meal for a family. I really like that versus two or three skillets of cooking, trying to keep the first and second warm while you finish the last. This will be a good purchase for you.

I had always loved my cast iron cookware from this company: however they can not make non-stick cookware; I suggest you look elsewhere. 6 months after I purchased my pan it began to delaminate. The coating started seperating from the cooking surface. Who wants pieces of non-stick coating in their scrambled eggs?

I called their warranty line. They don't staff it with enough people because you have to wait forever to get through and they throw you to voice mail if it's busy. When you get through to them, they will politely explain to you that they don't pay for you to ship the pan back, despite what it says on their web site. That's right! now I'm out an additional 20 bucks!

THANK YOU LE CRUESET for showing me the best side of corporate indifference. I could get better warranty service if I'd bought from WilliamsSonoma who stand by their products: however I wanted to buy local. Now I understand why my local kitchen store stopped stocking their stuff. Next time, I will buy a cheap pan at Target and if it last a year then I'm still ahead of the game.

Meanwhile, I will ask my gypsy friends to curse the Le Cruset executives who are apparently making tons of money by ripping off their customers.

I am posting this on every le creuset non stick product in Amazon.

Review of Download Circulon Contempo Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-Inch Review

Circulon Contempo Hard Anodized Nonstick 11-Inch Skillet, Silver

This is my first Circulon product so I didn't know what to expect. This particular frying pan is heavy and well-balanced. The handle is very sturdy and the silicone covering makes it non-slip. It fits a standard 10 inch burner. However, it is only 1-3/4 inches deep. Since the sides are sloped and the food doesn't stick, it is easy to stir things out (guess I need to SLOW down when I'm cooking!). It does not come with a lid and I'm not sure if you can order one separately. All in all a good buy IMO.

I have been using this pan now for 3 weeks and it sure has lived up to the Circulon name. I have pan fried chicken and sauted vegetables and also made crepes once. All foods I cook in this pan come out well made. The pan heats up evenly and the non stick coating is superb. Love the pan.

I bought this pan from Amazon after owning a Circulon wok for 14+ years. We LOVE our wok, and Circulon in general gets very good reviews. So we naturally tried Circulon again.

However, I must say I'm disappointed in this pan. It came with a small scratch on the silver coating on the outside of the pan. When I pulled on the little silver tab of coating it stretched a bit and came off. The silver coating immediately surrounding the scratch seamed like it did not adhere to the pan as well as the normal areas, like I could pull some of it off. At first, I ignored it, but after some thought, I was worried that if it came this way when new, the coating might come off too easily while using it. So I waited and thought about it.

A few days later, I discovered that Bed, Bath, & Beyond has this same pan + more. So, I went to actually see them all. (BTW BBB carries these pans for $25 too, but you can use a 20% coupon and save $5.) My local BBB only had 1 of these pans in stock when I went, and it had even more scratches on the outside than the one shipped from Amazon. Additionally, it had 2 minor pits on the outer coating. Everything was minor, but it just doesn't bode well for a brand new product to have any scratches or pits. And this was on the outside. I would expect the outside to take more abuse since it sits directly on a burner.

Maybe I'm expecting too much for a $25 pan. But I expect something "new" to be in near mint condition. And I expect it to be able to take some minor abuse, like people picking it up in the store and possibly bumping it a bit. If it can't stand up to an occasional store trial, how can it stand up to the regular wear & tear of a kitchen?

I will be returning this pan to Amazon.

So sad. I was so excited and didn't even get to cook with it. :(

I will preface this review by informing you that I am not a great cook. So, I utilize frying pans for browning ground beef or sausage, grilled cheese sandwiches, and breakfast items like eggs and pancakes. I have used a beat-up non-stick frying pan for the last 15 years and never thought much about replacing it until the handle broke. So, I found this online for a reasonable price and gave it a try.

Boy am I glad that I did. The non-stick surface is fantastic and seems like it will be durable (although note that I've only had this product for a week). The pan is well constructed and the heat distribution was excellent. The first trial was grilled cheese, and they came out great. The second trial was fried eggs and bacan, and everyone enjoyed. For the results and the price, you really cannot beat this pan!

I've owned many 12" pans, from the cheap to the best in class and this one by Circulon is fantastic. It may be a bit expensive compared to the tefals and the farberwares but this one's in the same league as the anolons. Not too heavy and the heat permeates the entire pan for even cooking. Make sure that you wait till it's totally cooled before washing otherwise the non-stick coating will be damaged. Highly recommended.

We invested in cast-iron cookware recently and bought two packages of these. They are fantastic. They get warm from the heat, but never hot. I tried keeping them on the handles all the way while I cooked, but found that they can burn if they're too close to the flame (I guess that is pretty obvious!) However, if you pull them off the handle halfway so that they are away from the flame, you won't lose them and they'll be there when you need to move the pot. Definitely required for Lodge cookware.

This is a heavy, good quality fitted hot pad for your cast iron skillet. I have used these hot pads to remove 400F skillets from a hot oven. The skillet had been used to bake cornbread. The hot pad protected my hand from the hot skillet handle while I transfered it from oven to counter. I would buy these again.

I use cast iron cookware a lot, and used to drape one of those square "hot pads" over the skillet handles just so I wouldn't absent mindedly grab one. These and the other Lodge handle holders are now a staple. I also learned what another reviewer learned, and you keep them halfway up the handle while the heat is on... because they can scorch. You still need oven mitts for baking, but these are top notch for cast iron skillet use.

Honest reviews on Cheap Download Lodge 2HHMC2 Hot Handle Holders/Mitts, multi-color

These are basically the same as the other Lodge 2 Piece Hot Handle Holder set, except the come decorated with hot peppers. My favorite.

They have a silicon lining inside, which greatly reduces heat. The outside fabric is durable, and the stitching is good.

They're great to have around, and these are much more fun than the boring black color.

I bought about a dozen of these holders. I use them solely for my cast iron skillets. They work very well with an electric range, however beware of using it with a gas range. They tend to catch fire easily on medium to high heat. They have lasted me a few years. They have cloth hooks on the ends I use to hang them on the cupboard handles. Over time the hooks tend to wear out and rip but it doesn't effect the intended use. I will continue to purchase these over the years.
