This pan is somewhat bigger than I expected. The side walls spread out from the base a little more than it seems to look in the picture, but it's a fantastic pan. It's heavy and the base fits perfectly on the largest element of my electric stove. Looks great and fits in with the rest of the Tri-Ply line. The clear lid is great for watching the status of what's cooking without interrupting it. It's large enough to brown at least 3 pounds of ground beef with plenty of room to spare, so capacity should not be a concern at all. You could probably fry 4 medium size chicken breasts or maybe 5 pork chops at once without crowding the pan. I just got this pan, but I expect to use it quite a bit.

Great multi-purpose pan. I switched from Caphalon non-stick cookware to Caphalon's stainless steel after the non-stick surface became worn (which is really unsafe given the chemicals used for the non-stick coating). Anyways, it's a little bit of an adjustment going from non-stick to stainless steel. When you use non-stick, one becomes used to not having to use much oil and still not having a problem with food sticking to your cookware. With stainless steel, I think the trick is to pre-heat your stainless steel pan, cook at a little bit lower setting, and you'll figure out it's just as good as non-stick. My everyday Caphalon works great after I figured out how to use it...cleans easy too. After cooking, I just pour a little water in the pan and let it soak for 30 mins and anything stuck on the pan just comes right off. I also use Bar Keeper's friend cleanser and this stuff cleans it perfectly.

It is the one. It is the most amazing, most gorgeous pan i have ever encountered. It is build very solid, i never felt it was flimsy or breakable. It is nice and large but not so large that it heats unevenly on the burners. It is OVEN SAFEsear the steak, pop in oven, voila you made an awesome steak on a stove top! The ban is not non stick but if you work at the proper heat for the food, heat up the pan, then add your oil/butter and HEAT IT UP TOOthe ban is virtually non stick. I can make MOST items in this pan but there are a few items i do prefer to make in a nonstick panlike fry potatoes. For some reason i can not fry potatoes in this, they stick , i ssuspect because the oil gets starchy and in that case a non stick surface is needed.

Bar Keepers friend will keep this pan looking 100% new . It is dishwasher safebut dish washing detergents will make it dull but cleanso i usually clean in dishwasher then follow up with barkeepers friendvoila new pan!.

FYI: I read on another site that you should grease it with a thin coating of oil, in case anyone also read thatPLEASE NEVER DO THIS. Stainless steel is NOT cast iron. It will be gross .

Like another reviewer, I bought this pan to replace some of my non-stick Calphalon skillets. I love the 12-inch size (if you are debating between this and the 10-inch and have more than two people in your family, get this one) because it is big enough to cook large skillet meals or even double batches of some meals. Before I was using one of those family skillets with the high sides and the long handle, and this holds much, much more than that one did. Also, I like the short handles on this pan because I don't have to arrange all of the handles on the stove when I have multiple pans going. This is my first pan with a glass like, and it's nice to see the food cooking. I can tell the lid forms a good seal with the pan because food cooks very quickly with the lid closed. There is a learning curve with stainless steel, and I've burned a few things in this pan, but I think low heat and lots of cooking oil/fat are they keys to using it. It washes up pretty well, too. I bought a couple of tri-ply pieces and a couple of other pans with the encapsulated base, and now I wish I had splurged and bought all tri-ply because it heats up much faster and cooks more evenly. The $80 price on Amazon seems to be the full price everywhere, and I was able to find this pan at my local Bed, Bath & Beyond and use a 20% off coupon...so shop around and save yourself a little money!

I ordered this pan for my daughter. I visited her after it arrived, so I got a chance to try it out myself. I'm really glad other reviewers emphasized that you should preheat the pan. This is the first tri-ply pan I've used, so I would not have known that it's so important (the paperwork included in the box does address this). The cooking surface of the pan did "dis-color", but it performed beautifully. I cooked a bunch while I was visiting and used the pan nearly every day for many types of meals. It worked well and cleaned up easily. I even tried making pancakes with it. I've only ever made pancakes with a well seasoned cast iron pan at home, so I was hesitant to try the Calphalon, but it was fine. You must remove any bits of previous pancakes before putting more batter in, but you can cook even pancakes without much butter, and they came up off the pan with no trouble. I'm certainly not a professional chef, so there might be some aspect of the pan that isn't perfect, but I thought it was great. (Design It seemed strange at first, but I ended up really liking that it has two handles instead of one long one, particularly in a small kitchen. The two handles take up less stove space than a long handle would, and you have more control with two handles. Because the pan is large, the lid is obviously also large, and I had a bit of difficulty in the small kitchen figuring out where to put the lid when it wasn't on the pan a minor inconvenience and a function of the small kitchen, not a fault of the pan. And I really like being able to see through the lid, but I worry about the potential of its breaking. It seems pretty tough, so I guess just be careful with it.)

After ardently searching for a replacement electric skillet (used to have Farberware), I had tried the Cucino Pro. I had found that the thermostat was not precise. Having sent that one back, I tried Precise Heat. Their skillet was beautiful but was not dishwasher safe (as I was used to) even though the ads had stated that it was. I returned that product.

FINALLY, we stumbled on this Delfino/Toastess Electric skillet. It is the same size and shape as my old Farberware AND comes with the glass lid. The thermostat is precise and I am loving it.

We had so much trouble locating a replacement for my tried and true Farberware, and this one even has the glass lid (something that I had wanted) that I plan to order a second skillet.

I purchased this electric skillet for my son. I have a Farberware skillet that I have used several times a week for over 15 years. I was looking for a Farberware skillet to purchase for him as well. Farberware no longer makes an electric skillet like my old one. The quality of this skillet is as good if not better than my Farberware skillet. I can honestly say this is a first for me. I have ordered dozens of products if not hundreds over the years from Amazon. I ordered this product due to the excellent reviews here on Amazon. When it arrived, I cooked with it...a little disappointed at how the food stuck but I have been using a non-stick pan and figured I would get used to the stainless steel. It heated up evenly and cooked well. However whilst I was cleaning it afterwards I noticed a rough area on the black plastic housing of the slot that the thermostat plugs into. Upon closer inspection, it is obvious that it had cracked and someone had attempted to glue it back together. This was sold as new and I am amazed that the company would attempt something so low. It can't have been a customer who returned it because it looked brand new in the packaging and had not been used. Anyway, Amazon were professional as usual and immediately offered me a refund or replacement. On this occasion I chose a refund because I do not have a level of confidence with this company after trying this on. Just goes to show you need to thoroughly inspect everything you purchase as soon as possible.

Pan heats evenly and no non stick coating to flake off. This is by far the best electric skillet I have ever owned (and I've had a few). I have had this pan for a few months now and it is well worth the money!

I've used this everyday for almost a year now and I still think it is amazing. I've also put the feet and the lid through the dishwasher but never the skillet.

I had wanted to get this grill for awhile, but was still a little leery of its merits. I finally bought it anyway, and so far, have been loving it! I anticipate that during the summer it will replace my oven.

I cook a lot of chicken, either in the skillet, or in the oven. With this grill, you don't have to worry about turning the chicken, watching it, etc. All I really do it watch the clock. The first night I had the grill, I made salmon fillets, and they turned out great.

While I love the grill so far, there are a few things to watch out for. The first time I cooked chicken, I overcooked it..you kind of need to play around with the times in the booklet enclosed with the grill. I also found that I needed to push the grease tray farther back (closer to the grill) than I initially thought. Also, it does get quite smoky, so it would probably be most ideal if your kitchen had some kind of window.

With cleaning, you really do have to do it while the grill is still warm, or it makes it a lot harder to clean off.

I've barely used my oven since getting this grill..in the summer it will be great not having to heat up the whole house.

I bought the George Foreman grill as a joke for my husband (it DOES say "Lean Mean Fat-Reducing Grilling Machine" on it), but we used it for three weeks solid after it arrived. The reason? It's EASY, and the food turns out really tasty!

This particular model is big enough to cook several portions of meat at a time -it cooks from the top and bottom all at once to cut your cooking time down to mere minutes! The grill is tilted and comes with a trough so that all excess fat is drained away from your food. Pretty nifty! It's also fairly easy to clean up -you just wipe down the grill and throw the trough in the dishwasher.

We've used the grill for chicken breasts, Boca Burgers, regular burgers, pork chops, steaks, and even bacon strips (it's GREAT for avoiding a bunch of messy bacon grease). It cooks even frozen meat in a relatively short period of time, and it cooks it thoroughly. It's easy to throw something on the grill, sprinkle some seasonings on it (BAM!), and let it cook for a few minutes while you fix the rest of the meal. It is hard to overcook things, and it's fun to have grill-lines on your food.

It took me awhile to believe the hype about the George Foreman Grills, but they are easy to use and deliver good results. In fact, this might be a good way to introduce your older children (12 and up) to rudimentary cooking. The George Foreman grill would be great for people who don't have a lot of time to cook & clean, who aren't yet confident cooks or don't have a lot of cooking experience, or for anyone who wants an easy way to make a tasty meal!

First off, let me state that I never buy anything that I see on television or any mass-marketed, "must own" product. With my wife being 8 months pregnant, it suddenly became a priority for me to pitch in and take care of some meals. We purchased the George Foreman "Family Size" grill, thinking that I could grill some things up without trudging outside to fire up the gas grill, cooking it, and scraping the grill, etc.

Well, we have now had it one week and thus far I have already prepared: chicken breasts, salmon, cod, hotdogs, hamburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, potatoes, and even ostrich (the most nutritional red meat there is)! Each of these things were among the best I've ever tasted. The quality of the grilling rivals that of any I've ever achieved on an outdoor grill. Each meal took under 10 minutes (including pre-heating) to cook, and 5 minutes to clean up. I cannot say enough about this product.

I recommend buying at least the family size grill. It's perfect for easily getting multiple items on at the same time. For example, I grilled three burgers and some sliced, red skinned potatoes at the same time. This size seems perfect for 2 or 3 people, despite claims that it can hold enough for 5 or 6 people.

You know how you go through an infatuation period with a new kitchen appliance? Then it gets put in a storeroom and falls out of your life like an old boyfriend or girlfriend. It happened to our pastamaker, our ice-cream maker, but I don't think it's going to happen to our George Foreman grill. I really think it's going to occupy prime kitchen counterspace forever.

The main reason is that it is extremely versatile. It grills meats easily; everything comes out firm on the outside and juicy on the inside. But it is also a dandy sandwich-maker it makes the world's best grilled cheese; the cheese and bread undergo a kind of spiritual transformation and become as one.

Do yourself a favor buy a really good loaf of bread, spread it with a little olive oil, and make the world's best toast.

But although it does an excellent job with fish fillets, you use it for this purpose at your peril. Even though I scrubbed it daily it took five or more days before my toast did not taste like Charlie the Tuna. So no fish would be my advice (or, get the newer Foreman grill with the removable grill plates, which presumably could be de-salmonized in the dishwasher).

I am a big fan of the Foreman grill machine. The problem is, I use it.

I am on my third machine now in less than two years, and the surface is hopeless again.

No matter how much they tell you to use the plasticware, etc, if you use salt or other seasonings in the cooker, you will lose the surface like so many other coated devices.

If there was an all-stainless cooker for triple the money even quadruple I'd buy it.

This has got to be the deal of the century, and not only that, these pans will last you almost that long! My mother has had a set for 35 years, and I've had mine for 5. Nearly indestructible, dishwasher safe, good performers on the stovetop, with stay-cool handles! They even look great after all those years!

Keep in mind that because they are mostly stainless steel, with an aluminum bottom, Farberware does not heat up quite as fast as, say, hard-anodized aluminum such as Calphalon, which gourmets prefer. Stainless steel is a poor heat conductor, while aluminum is good and copper is the best. On the plus side, you can't put Calphalon in the dishwasher and Calphalon does not have true stay-cool handles, like Farberware.

Anyway, how often do you buy a gift knowing that it will still be around 20, 30, 40 years from now? By the way, if the pot does have a problem, they come with a Lifetime Warranty.

Most of my cookware is Revere so my experience with Farberware is limited. With that in that mind I must say that this steamer fits a perfect niche in my collection. I hate hauling out my stock pots for pasta side dishes and my 2qt pots kept boiling over. This size is great and the roomy steamer instert will hold a medley of vegetables without a hitch. One problem though, my Revere handles have always stayed cool on my stove. I went to grab this pot and managed to burn both my hands. I have been spoiled by whatever Revere does with its handles so I just have to remember to use hot pads. The handles seem very durable and the pot itself is solid. If the handles stayed cool like my Revere Ware then this would have been a solid five stars.

This is another great Farberware product we purchased to help stock our son's first college apartment. He thought it was a pasta cooker, was a little disappointed (at first), that it was a 'small' steamer, what could you possibly cook in there ? Well, he is actually cooking/steaming fresh vegatables, and enjoying them. He has fallen in love with steamed potatoes!

The pot is actually small (3 quart) with about a 4 inch side, so it can also be used for servings of soup, pasta sause or that small batch of chilli. The steamer pot fits snuggly into the pot, with just the right size holes to allow the steam in, but not the product out. AND the lid fits tightly, allowing for a quick and fast steam cycle.

Overall, a great product, that is being used much more than originally thought that it would be used. Much more than just a vegatable steamer.

At first glance this is a product that looks well made. Looking closely on the inside of the lower pot, I saw what looked like several heat stains on the bottom of the pot. I also noticed that one of the black handles was loose. The Steamer does the job very well but as I used it over time, I noticed that the heat stains (heat stains or whatever they were caused by) were getting more pronounced and more were appearing. It looks like the steel is peeling??? It's happening on the sides of the inside of the pot as well as the inside bottom. I did some searching about Farberware on line and found hundreds of product complaints about the failure of many products. Farberware is no longer produced in the USA... it's made in China. I can't understand how a brand that was known for its fine quality can watch its reputation erode from unbelievably bad manufacturing defects. I'm not going to list all the horror stories about handles falling off teapots filled with boiling water when lifted off the stove and other product disasters. Before you buy any Farberware products from anyone, I suggest that you do an online search about Farberware's current quality. I certainly would like to return the product to Farberware but there is no way to get satisfaction or repair or help... read for yourself.

We use this pot for steaming corn on the cob, and can easily fit three or four ears in the steaming basket. A little steam leaks out from between the basket and the pot. The bottom pot is a handy size for cooking spaghetti, although as someone else noted, you still need to use a collander to drain the water. We haven't had any problems with the handles, as someone else mentioned; I think that reviewer must have been referring to a different item. The Farberware Classic handles are oven safe to 350 degrees, if I remember correctly. It comes out of the dishwasher looking great. The pot bottom will scorch fairly easily when cooking certain foods, as it is uncoated.

Although a little heavy to lift since it is cast iron; however, I sincerely love this pan. It heats extremely well and evenly and allows even browning. It is extremely easy to clean, even when over-browned on the bottom just boil a little water with baking soda and it comes right off when no staining. I would like to replace my newer Calphalon pans with this type of pan since the new Calphalon pans are made in China and are paper thin, cheap quality.

My only question about the pan is how will the enamel finish hold up in the future will the enamel coating chip or break off with general use and care.

I only received these pans a few days ago but so far I am ecstatic about them. Slide a silicone spatula around the inside to remove the food and they are so clean you barely know you cooked something in them. Also the handle and weight distribution make them extraordinarily comfortable to use. Don't know how they will stand the test of time but they can't be worse than teflon, and they don't come with a warning about possibly poisoning any canaries you might happen to keep your kitchen, as my last teflon set did. Just make sure you read the directions and follow them they require basically the same care as teflon but don't outgas anything bad and the manufacturing process is billed as green. I have been wiping a very thin coat of olive oil over the non-stick surface before each use, rather than just periodically as the directions say. Conservatism? It's a very small amount of oil, and these are sauté pans where I usually use a bit of oil anyway. My regular pans always end up with browned grease on the sides that requires scrubbing. These stay clean. Love them!

Slightly delicate interior -treat gently, clean by hand. But super non-stick without Teflon, good looking porcelain exterior. Sides slope inward to bottoms, thus cooking surfaces are smaller than 8", 10", and 12". Exteriors can chip if banged around so we are very careful. But they are great to cook in. Always use a very small amount of oil and everything slides out when done. Wipe interior out gently, then wash w/ soapy sponge and it looks like new w/ very little effort. I do use a somewhat lower heat to avoid scorching. Very reasonably priced but have become our pans of choice.

After rave comments from my grown daughter, I decided to invest in the 3 skillet set. I have cooked chicken breasts with Worcestershire sauce and the residue easily came off with water and a paper towel. Fried eggs using butter worked well. Have decided to hand wash skillets rather than put them into the dishwasher. They perform better than Calphalon and Circulon skillets.

I bought this set of cookware because I don't want to use Teflon anymore. I'd only wish I'd read the review before I bought them because most of the reviews complain about the lack of longevity of the ceramic finish!

I've only this set for about 2 weeks so I can only give my first impressions. These pans get a lot of use, at least a couple of times a day and so far I really like them. And I fry up at least a couple of eggs a day so frying eggs is my golden standard. With plenty of oil, they are really good, the eggs slide around easily. Without enough oil, they stick a little.

I like the white coloring a lot. That makes it real easy to see where the burnt food is, unlike with dark colored pans. There have been a couple of chips around the edges where they have made contact with other pots and pans. But so far, after 2 weeks of constant use, the ceramic has held up. The biggest problem is that there really aren't many good choices: I don't want to use anything with Teflon and PFOA on it, stainless can be very expensive and sticky and cast iron is too heavy! So it's this for now. I will update this again in the future after further use.

I recently bought a stainless steel set that I love. However, I wanted to have some non-stick for cooking that's a bit trickier with stainless. And I didn't want Teflon. In my opinion, this works better than Teflon, too. Clean up is super easy, no matter what I cook in it. Heats evenly and quickly, and the white surface color actually gives a different spin to watching your food cook. Handle stays cool and comfortable in any size hand.

The only negative I have is that the red paint scratches off, regardless of how gentle I place it on the iron burners of my Wolf range. Not sure what the long-term ramifications of that will be to the pans' finish.

I have been using Berndes cookware since the day I bought my first piece at a sale my local hardware store was having. They had one of the traditions 9 1/2 fry pan with lid for practically nothing. I took it home and was blown away by the quality and durability of this little pan. I then looked on the web and discovered they were of reasonably high value. I ordered a few more pieces from Amazon and eventually threw out all of my Calphalon and other cookware. I have my family and friends in the process of converting to Berndes also (one skillet as a Christmas gift is all it takes).

You simply are not going to find better cookware in this price range.

We've been using this set for over a year now and it still holds up great to any challenging meal after all this time. Even with the wear of everyday use the set still maintains its integrity while evenly heating and cooking all varieties of food to perfection. We've never had an issue with food sticking to the surface while cooking or during clean up. The cast aluminum and non-stick coating has been a dream. I would recommend the Berndes line of cookware to anyone seriously interested in cooking quality meals.

We used it heavily for several years but replaced it with T fal ultimate so we could have the escape valve in the lid and better nonstick surface. I have three pieces of Berndes; love the quality. The wooden handles are the best, but beware of the dishwasher for no wood should regularly be placed in the dishwasher. Occasionally I will put my Berndes pieces in the dishwasher on normal, no drying heat, but usually I hand wash all pots and pans. The heat distributes very well, clean up is a breeze. One note: like all coated cookware, you can get a build up of grease on the outside if you are not a hyper-cleaner. But they respond well to the old ammonia in a plastic bag (don't put the handle in!) trick for serious degreasing. About to buy their "sauteuse" pan for stove to table convenience.

I love Staub and LeCreuset. I chose the Staub grill pan over the other because it was a tad bigger in size. It is GREAT for grilling meats to get those nice sear marks. You can use it inside the oven for a braise. Staub is well made and will last forever. It can be a little tough to clean up sometimes but I just allow it to soak in a little warm water and use a non-scratch pad for touch areas.

I would like to add that for practicality purposes -I must confess that I really haven't used this pan as much as I thought I would after owning if for approx 9 months. I find myself reaching for the cast iron skillet to sear meats in order to sear all of it -and popping in the oven to finish off if needed. If I want grill marks, I'll use the gas grill outside. This is just a personal preference and is by no means meant to dishonor the fine quality product that the Staub grill pan is. I would have bought a cast iron Staub skillet if I didn't already have a similar product.

Staub makes top quality skillets and grill pans and you can't go wrong with them. Yes, they are expensive so make sure you will use them!!

One of the great things about Amazon is the abundance of consumer product reviews. One of the poor things about Amazon is the frequent scant product descriptions. I place a lot of value on what the reviews state, which often add the missing details.

These are versatile hooks that can attach to a flat bar or wire style rack since the rack attachment end is tapered to an opening of 1/2 inch. The hook end opening is one inch. They are 5 inches in length. The product description does not state what the material is; it merely suggests stainless steel.

The ones I recently received are polished stainless steel and are 0.2" in diameter. The quality is excellent.

The Cuisinart Universal Pot Rack Hooks are a very well made product. I use them on a "wire" type rack (similar to the middle picture on the product link) and they fit nicely.

As advertised, these hooks can hang just about any pot , skillet or utensil. I purchased a chrome "bakers rack" and wanted to hang some pots and pans on it. These guys do a good job at that task, a ten inch cast iron skillet is no problem for one of these bad boys. The smaller hook fits just as easily over one of the thin rods in the shelf or thicker rod about the perimeter.

I first thought them to be pricey for just a bent metal rod.

when you hang these hooks you will notice that the hook part is purposely angled at about a 30 degree angle, so when you hang stuff on the hooks, the stuff is angled too, and not knocking into and bumping against the other stuff on hooks, kind of like parking at an angle in order to maximize on limited real estate.

The reviews here have some that say, "Wonderful tri-ply construction" (like Amazon's description as of Nov 2012) and a couple that dispute it. Well three days before Black Friday I emailed Calphalon customer service to get an answer whether this was the same stockpot that they sell separately as the Contemporary Stainless 8qt stockpot. Their email back on Black Friday itself said only, "They have different model numbers." That was helpful! I stared at the pictures on-line and noticed that the base of this one was obscured in the photo. So I took a chance with a great Black Friday coupon and bought this. I feel ripped off. I am staring at the box itself of the multipot next to the boxes from others in this line. The other boxes say tri-ply and this one only says "aluminum bottom" -yes, it's a cheapo stockpot with a disc bottom, like the 20 dollar stockpots. It is not like the triply stockpot sold without the inserts. I cannot return it because it would invalidate the terms of the coupon and the bonus set -I would be charged more to return it than it costs.

It is a low quality pot. Avoid it.

FOLLOWUP:

Having now bought individually the 8qt stockpot (which is also the one that comes in the sets) that comes without the inserts, I am sorry to find that the steamer and pasta inserts of the multipot do NOT fit the standard 8 qt stockpot of this line. Thought others would want to know that.

With a budget of only $100, I was torn between getting a 12-qt. Cuisinart or this 8-qt. Calphalon. I first went with the Cuisinart but returned it because the strainer had black metal residues within the holes, and felt flimsy. I tried to wash the residues out but didn't want the chance of it coming back during cooking.

My purchase of the Calphalon Contemporary was immediately met with amazement because of its beauty. It looks and feels so much sturdier than the Cuisinart, and the 8-qt. fits my cooking needs. We only cook a 1-pound package of spaghetti each time, so this is the perfect size. The 12-qt. could have easily cooked 2 packages at a time, but how many times are we going to cook for a party of 10? Hardly. By the way, the spaghetti package directs us to use 4 qts of water per package.

Lastly, I believe that everyone who owns stainless steel ccokware needs to always have some BARKEEPER'S FRIEND cleanser and polisher in their immediate vicinity. Amazon sells it, but holds it hostage unless you pay an additional $5 for shipping. I found mine for $1.50 at Wal-Mart, right next to the Ajax and Comet products. BF is going to get all the stains out and keep your cookware looking clean as new. I have saved my mom's beyond-burnt pot with BF. (Be sure to coat the stained area with a mix of water and BF for about an hour ahead of time for better results). Oh, and of course, stay away from the metal utensils and harsh brillo pads too.

Overall, the other reviewers have pointed out that this is a bottom-only aluminum construction. Yes, and that's why you won't be paying $300-plus. But I would like to mention also, that the encapsulated aluminum bottom is on the outside. I was concerned that the "seam" would somehow leak later, but that's not the case here. The pot itself is a one-piece. So for the price, I give this a 5-star rating for it's perfect size and sturdy construction.

This is pretty but not well made. The biggest complaint is that the rivets are corroding on the inside. You shouldn't have to worry about that in an "all stainless steel" pot, but the rivets aren't made of stainless steel, so you get galvanic corrosion (dissolving) and consequently who-knows-what kind of metal in your food.

I thought that being Calphalon and costing $93, I would get a quality product. Not even close! The two perforated containers that sit inside are tinny and both stained after the very first use. They are discolored and look terrible. While the pot and lid seemed to be of good quality, the pot did not hold up past the second use. It has stains inside from where the water level was even after I scrubbed it with cleanser. There are also white spots on the bottom of the pan that look like calcification, but can't be scrubbed off; they may even be corrosion in the pot itself considering how hard I've tried to get them off. Then to top it all off....after about four uses cooking artichokes, the entire inside of the pot is tinted green. Also, in case anyone is wondering, I've never let the water boil down very far and have been very careful with how I care for the pot.

The only good thing is that it is a nice looking pot from the outside.

This 8-Quart pan is a very nice. I used to have a "non-stick / 99 year warantee" stock pot of the same size, but the coating came off into my cooking -ick! This stainless cleans up easily, is dishwasher safe, and fits into the dishwasher. The tri-ply technology (aluminum inside, going up the sides) really does seem to help. I've found this pan better than the non-stick coating pans for not sticking, as long as you (1) let food warm to room temperature for 10 to 20 minutes or by warming in water, and (2) pre-heat the pan according to the manufacturor's directions. Though, sticking is seldom problematic for soup. Perfect size for a batch of vegetable soup or chicken stock. Comes with two free inserts, one for pasta and the other smaller, perhaps for use as a strainer. The shape & handles are elegant, and the glass lid really helpful for glancing over to make sure your stock/soup doesn't simmer dry. Highly recommended.

Nearly 10 months ago I purchased this item at the same time as another product, Cuisinart FCT22-20NS French Classic Tri-Ply Stainless 8-Inch Nonstick Skillet, specifically to compare them and guide my future purchases. After extensive daily usage of both products I can share my perspective and hope it helps others. I will be comparing only the 8 inch Calphalon pan to the 8 inch Cuisinart.

The Cuisinart product is a classic pro-style pan that seemed perfect for what I was after. That said, I was drawn to the Calphalon product by the attractive pricing and decent product reviews I found here on Amazon and elsewhere on the web. I am an avid appreciator of omelettes and there is no better task to test the sticky-factor of a pan than with omelettes especially as I am a flipper, not a folder.

I found both the Cuisinart and Calphalon pans to have good feel to them. The handle design and the weight of the pans is slightly different. The Cuisinart handle arcs higher which I preferred a bit more. The slope of the sides of the pan on the Calphalon is steeper leaving a larger cooking surface area on the bottom. For an omelette flipper the Cuisinart's less dramatic slope made it easier. That said, after a couple weeks of use I could achieve the same results with either.

Both pans perform well as a non-stick surface product. Very little effort to keep things from sticking and it required little to no butter or oil to get that result from both. These surfaces on both pans seemed to perform better once "broken in" even though that's not generally a characteristic of this material.

Now for durability. I invest way too much in cooking gear to use sharp tools on them. So I stick with just plastic tipped tongs or a silicone spatulas. Period. Regardless of my efforts, both pans are showing signs of scratches on the cooking surface a very disappointing finding. The Cuisinart looks to have held off scratches much better than the Calphalon. I expect that to start affecting the non-stick capabilities in a couple years as the scratches worsen. Both items are labeled as dishwasher safe and I did take advantage of that and it worked out well. The external surface of the Calphalon is easier to care for than the stainless surface on the Cuisinart.

So, it would seem that for half the price the Calphalon performed very well against the Cuisinart. The longevity of the Cuisinart will likely be the differenciator in the long run. But since I received two pans for pretty close to the same price in the Calphalon offering it really does win my vote in the end.

I bought the set direct from Calphalon before it appeared elsewhere. The finish is wonderful, the food actually does slide from the pans. My warranty says they can be washed in the dishwasher. I like the weight, they seem to be more like the old made-in-USA Calphalon bought years ago and passed on to family as I have cut back in cooking. I needed good omelet pans (you'd be surprised how many eggs seniors eat (smile)) and these more than satisfied me. A cover I already own fits one pan and I have ordered a cover from Calphalon for the other pan. That's because I tend to use these pans for almost everything I cook, stir fries, sautees, sauces, meats, veggies, I just made BubbleNSqueak in the large pan yesterday and needed the cover for that dish to tenderize the cabbage. I recommend this set without hesitation. I am sorry I wasn't able to buy it from Amazon, I am a died in the wool customer of Amazon. I will buy more in the Unison line and it will be from Amazon.

I don't know if these pans were damaged or if they were just poorly finished, but I returned the original and the second set that were sent to me for the same reason. The first set had numerous scratches or dents on the edge of the pan along where the non stick surface finishes onto the anodized back. The 10" pan had the most. The 8" pan had that and a large dent smack in the middle of the cooking surface. The finish looked fine where the dent was, which leads me to believe it may have been like this out of the factory.

The second set I received also had the scratches as the first (one again, more scratching on the 10" than the 8"). The 8" pan this time had discolorations in the finish, which are likely caused by poor application of the finish at the factory.

Overall, I'm not impressed, and certainly not for pans that are "list priced" for 200 dollars. In my opinion, Calphalon should package these better in the first place. 1/3 of the pan isn't protected by the packaging at all. Not good when you're dealing with non sticks, where once the finish is damaged, you really shouldn't continue their use.

Let me start out by saying I hate Calphalon. I've hated it from the get go, as I have issues with the whole concept of cooking on aluminum. I have been an All Clad fan for years (except that I can't say much for their black LTD finish which died). Color me stainless with a copper sandwich.

I was walking past a kitchen ware store in northern Florida, when they were offering this set at a greatly reduced price. We went in and for some strange reason, price probably, as well as the finish of the non-stick which seemed really nice, we bought the set. We were in the mood for nonstick, and our non stick All Clad omelet pan had died what I thought was an untimely death for a pan that was over $100. So we thought, what the heck. At this price, if it dies in a year, oh well. Now you can color me converted. We use this 10" on our boat (no dishwasher) and another in our condo (we don't put it in the dishwasher but maybe 1/4 of the time). We've had them for over a year now, and I can tell you that not a day (that we use it) goes by that my wife and I don't remark to one another, 'this is my favorite pan'. Even heat. Food slides around effortlessly, and a joy to clean with a simple sponge and dish soap. NO signs of wear on the non stick. I have to confess that we treat this pan with respect. We use high temp rubber spatulas, bamboo, and (carefully) metal tongs. Mostly washed by hand (why not, the difference between rinsing and washing this pan is so slight). You're already washing your good knives by hand, right??

This Calphalon Unison Nonstick 8-Inch and 10-Inch Omelette Pan Set just arrived well packaged and in great condition from Amazon. I just wanted to show you on video what it looks like out of the box in case you are interested in how it is packaged which is perfectly! As you can tell from the video, they are GORGEOUS!

I was looking to purchase a new healthy pan to replace my Saladmaster 10" electric skillet that we use to cook silver dollar pancakes twice weekly. About two years ago we purchased an ultra-expensive titanium Saladmaster oil core electric skillet which over time has turned into you have to put tons of oil to be able to flip the pancakes; it is almost like you have to deep fat fry them now although it worked great at first. I first selected the The 10" Green Earth Frying Pan by Ozeri, with Textured Ceramic Non-Stick Coating (100% PTFE and PFOA Free) to try. We made 3 batches of 3 silver dollar pancakes the day after cooking a goat cheese scallion omelet in them; they both flipped ok and cleaned fine HOWEVER afterwards I noticed it had left a strange taste on the food both times; both items cooked in the pan left a strange taste in my mouth as well as made my mouth a little numb. It was similar to the sensations just prior to or just subsequent to your mouth being put to sleep for dental work. I decided it might be healthy for environment and easy to clean but possibly harmful to eat foods cooked in there!

So then after much research, I selected this Calphalon Unison Nonstick 8-Inch and 10-Inch Omelette Pan Set and I am so glad I did! My pancakes were so easy to flip the first time, I tried flipping them back over with just a fingernail and it worked! VERY NON-STICK. Cleaned up with a mere wipe of wet towel. Fantastic! And the pans left no weird aftertaste on the food or in our mouths nor numbed our mouths so these pans are keepers! They are beautiful and the perfect weight. I use them on a smooth top stove. Thank you Calphalon and Amazon for great healthy pans at a great price!

The only con for this pan set is for our dog who is very disappointed that each pancake comes out perfectly in our new Calphalon Unison Nonstick 8-Inch and 10-Inch Omelette Pan Set and wants to continue to get the pancakes that don't turn our right like she did with the Saladmaster electric pan....

this is the best skillet I have ever owned. I've been using this skillet for about a month now and find it to be the best. The height and angle of the handle is great. The handle never gets hot. The pan itself is nonstick and supposedly dishwasher safe (I still haven't put it in the dishwasher, I always hand wash it). The only issue might be that it's too heavy to lift with one hand for some people.

I was in love with this pan when I first got it for all he reasons the others mention. Great weight and angle on the handle, cooks evenly and truly non stick. However, I question how long the reviewers have had their pans before rating it. I've had mine a little under two years, and it's barely any more non stick than my plain stainless steel pan. I've never used metal utensils on it and there are no visible scratches or flaking, it just doesn't work as well. I've put it in the dishwasher but it says it's dishwasher safe, and I have burned a few things on it at times, but don't feel it should damage the pan to this degree.

I still liking Viking for stainless steel and other cookware which will last a lifetime, but it's just not worth shelling out $200 every two years for a non stick.

Viking's Belgium-made cookware is fantastic. It is build to last for generations and is designed to look and function superbly. We've had the 13" version for well over 10 years. It is indestructible. We beat the day lights out of it with very high heat on a Miele induction cooktop for searing and oven use. There's not a scratch on the coating. A chip on the very top edge due to handling has been there for years and its been stable since the chip. Our other non sticks, circa $100/pan, last a year, 2 years max before we replace them. In the time we've owned this pan, we've been through at least 8 non-stick frying pans I can remember and probably another 3 or 4 I can't remember. We try all the latest new technologies and continue to replace them on a regular basis.

I'm not sure just what this coating is but its definitely a lot harder than PFOA or Teflon. Almost like a ceramic coating. Not as "slide around" nonstick as those but lasts way longer and clean up is still very easy.

I'm on this page because these Viking pans, though expensive and heavy, are superb. Our smaller pans are again ready to be replaced. So its pay for the Vikings as I'm sick and tired of replacing the less expensive pans.

And, I went through quite a few batches of waffle batter until I could heat the iron on the stove properly.

But, after a while I was making the tastiest waffles on the block.

I have baked waffles in this pan for about 30 years. It still bakes the biggest most beautiful Belgian waffles in the world in four minutes! I am looking for a second one so I can make two at a time. Preheat about 2 minutes on each side. Flip the griddle quickly after pouring batter onto the hottest side. Bake 2 minutes on each side. Mine has a temperature gauge in the handle, which I love. I am trying to find that model, but it may not exist any more.
