I have long had a much larger Le Creuset dutch oven, and I use it for all kinds of things. But to do the no-knead bread recipe, I had to make a very large loaf (double recipe), and I also had to replace the Le Creuset handle, which cannot take 450-500 degrees. I received this KitchenAid pot as a gift, and tested it right away. I can make a perfect single recipe of the bread, and the stock handle is already good to go. The finish and handle are looking good as new after minimal clean-up. I can only assume it will work great for all the other less demanding things that we want to do with enameled cast iron.

This dutch oven is very nice, cooks great and is easy to clean. My only complaint is it is not as red as I thought it would be. The red leans way to the brown side, but it is still very handsome.

This dutch oven is heavy-duty, high quality ... just as I would expect from th KitchenAid name brand. The colorful enamel finish goes right from the oven to the table for serving, if you want. I highly recommend it. The 4.5 quart is roomy and the perfect size for our family of 4, but you might want to consider a larger size depending on your needs.

After only 3 uses the enamel chipped on the bottom inside of the pot after making chili. Since it isn't made by Kitchen Aid, but a company who they allowed to use their name, Kitchen Aid doesn't stand by or deal with any product problems themselves. It's not even shown on Kitchen Aid's website, this should tell you how much they stand behind it. It would cost a nonrefundable $25 in shipping because of weight (this thing weighs a tonne) to send it back to them to maybe get a replacement. This was a terribly disappointing purchase.

I recently purchased this item and will not cook with anything else now.

I use it as I would a regular pot, except now I cook over lower heat, which takes more time, but in return builds the flavour up so you can truly appreciate the difference with conventional thin-walled pots.

The quality is good, except I got a discoloured spot inside, but that does not really affect anything, does it? The casserole is quite heavy, but that's expected with cast iron.
