I bought this item to replace an older Calphalon pan that had seen better days. I like the capacity and I like the vented lid. Yes, it's nonstick & cleans up easily. yes, the 2 handles on the pan make it easier to lift and it has a decent pour spout. But, the two handles give you an opportunity to burn BOTH hands. The handles on both the lid and the pan do not stay cool to the touch on the stovetop, as other pans do. Even my ancient one-piece cast iron pan handle stays cooler. I believe this is a major safety issue. I'm amazed I haven't burned myself yet. If you don't mind putting on your oven mitts just to toss the contents of your pan for 3 seconds, then this pan might be OK for you. But if you're cooking a few items and get a little absent-minded and pick up the pan by the handle, you could be in trouble.

The nonstick of the pan works well, and I like cooking in it. While it says omelet, it is decently deep and works well for many basic frying tasks.
The lid has a deep rubber lip than descends into the pan about 3/4 of an inch. On two opposite spots of the rubber it is perforated. They are marked on the top of the lid and you can see them in the picture. The theory is you spin the lid and line then up with the two spouts to vent steam without splatter. However, the top actually is the wrong size. The top slides back and forth by about 3/8 of an inch. There is no way to have an effective seal in any position. The position of the vents on the lid are immaterial.
It loses another star for the handles. The main handle hasn't been a problem. But unlike other designs, the small metal loops on the lid and opposite the main handle have a two inch section covered in rubber. If you view other versions, you'll see the rubber encloses the entire upper part of the loop and part of the descent to the bolts. The rubber portion is two small. Two fingers and can feel the heat from the metal. If it tilts or your hand turns, it is VERY easy for your skin to contact the exposed metal and it is NOT a stay-cool handle. As another reviewer said, you will have to use a towel or mitt for the smaller handles. Only the main handle is safe.
I considered taking two stars as the rubberized handles give the false impression that these can be used with mitts and towels. Something you wouldn't know until you've used the pan.
I got this as an one-off at a Home Goods for a little less.

Love this pan! The size of this pan is great. I was originally worried about the shallowness of it, but so far it's worked great. I thought the feature of using the lid as a strainer would be great, but I haven't really used it for that since it's kind of hard to hold a heavy hot pan and lid on while draining out the liquid. The rim of the lid is also very malleable and rubbery so it's a little awkward to use when needing to semi-cover the pan as it won't rest solidly on top of the pan like a normal lid would. It's also very easy to clean. I normally hand wash it, and so far nothing as stuck to it, so it takes 2 seconds to wash. Great purchase!

This pan is wonderful. It has a perfect balance and is light enough in weight that I can lift it even when it is full of food. This is important for my arthritis filled wrists! I absolutely love this pan and will be purchasing more from this Calphalon group.

I wanted a larger calphalon skillet for cooling bigger meals. It is both deep and wide. The lid is good but does not dot super tight like that Lisa for the hard annodized sets. This is not as thickas the hard annodized, but I expect it to last for many years.
