I've been wood grilling an assortment of peppers because of my love of roasted Hatch chiles. I've wood grilled jalapenos, poblanos, green chiles, and red peppers. It's hard to do by hand, because you need to constantly turn the veggies and they fall through the grill as they cook. If you have ever been to a Mexican market or to Hatch Chile Festival, you've seen how they roast huge batches of chiles with large circular bins that are constantly rotated, sometimes with hot charcoals and sometimes with a flame source. Well, barring having that at your disposal, this is a nice way to roast your veggies. You can flip the basket every few minutes, then after blackening the outer skins, hose off quickly (as is done at Hatch), then transfer to a plastic bag, ziptie, and let it steam to finish off.

Nice sturdy construction, basket clasps together well and stays together as you turn basket. Nice coating on item and it was super easy to clean, even though it got a lot of carbon from the wood grilling. I did spray it with oil before use as was suggested.

Something that is not obvious with this picture is that you can separate the top and bottom and have access to two grilling baskets. LOVE IT.

Place a handful of popcorn kernels inside the basket hold it over the fire [ red-hot coals are the best ] and shake the basket until the kernels are sliding back and forth over the bottom of the basket [ the corn pops in under a minute ] amazing !!! See those clips on the handles? Every single basket I have for grilling has a locking ring on the handle so that the device stays shut. The photo seems to indicate the same thing on this basket, just like every other basket on earth. Well, they aren't lock sleeves. They are simple metal pieces that say "HOT" on them. This is a heavy basket and extremely well-made and I will use it a lot, especially for grilled veggies that need to be shaken around. But, I will have to make my own security clip to keep the lid on.

I saw one of these on a shopping channel on TV. Looked cool, I bought one from Amazon.com. I have had it for less than 2 weeks, and have made 3 meals with it. Pork shish kabobs and chicken shish kabobs, with out the skewers! Much easier. (served as a wrap) I have many plans for experimentation with this and the grill.

It would be nice if the handle was removable.

As for clean up, I have found that a good soaking in the sink and then using the garden hose is the best.

I am ordering a second one today.

AFter years of struggling to cook veggies on the grill, this product works great! Just put the veggies in and close the lid. Flip back and forth and watch them cook with ease. Good tip. Marinate the veggies in a balsamic dressing(or concoction of your choice) prior to grilling to add extra flavor.
