The earlier reviewer obviously doesn't know quite as much as she lets on.

I have been very happy with Old Mountain products. The fact that an item was received broken does not reflect the quality of the item itself. It just means that Amazon did not pack it well enough. Cast iron is actually very brittle and can be broken very easily. One thing in the review was correct, if taken care of properly, a cast iron skillet can last forever.

I have LOTS of cast iron and I kow how to clean and season them ect..

I rate this one only 3 stars as its not as smooth as others and I didn't like the pre season so I removed it and reseasoned it and it works great.

I didn't like how far the helper handle sticks out but I can deal with it.

I have a collection of griddles all differend sizes ect.. and comparing this one to the others this one only a 3 star quality isn't the best but useable. I did like the design on the bottom would look nice on the wall for decoration. I will go back to name brand for the rest of my cast iron.

I have used cast iron for 35 years and this is the worst piece I have ever owned. I have seasoned it over 6 times and it will not work. My husband is planning on grinding it smooth because it came unfinished. It also has a raised picture of an old mountain on the bottom I wonder if that causes the uneven cooking... I will probably donate it and buy a Lodge.

This item arrived today with a completely broken off handle. It was literally thrown into the box with several other small items wrapped only in a plastic bag. This being a cast iron skillet it seems impossible to have gotten broken in shipping. It must have already been broken. It was not in a nice cardboard box to protect it. Probably shipped here from China with many more just bouncing around against the other poorly wrapped skillets. Also it was ground down in two spots leaving shiny spots. It's a wonder it didn't ruin the other items in the shipping container. Good cast iron pans don't break and can be used for ages. Don't get disappointed like I am, buy Lodge. Sure Amazon will refund my money but I have to package and ship this thing back to them. The least they could have done is inspect it to see if it was in good condition.
