I also bought this griddle at Walmart. It's heat settings are so inconsistant it's actually rather frightening. I can set it at 225 degrees and it will smoke like crazy and burn an egg in a matter of seconds, but then if I make pancakes it will cool off so badly that I have to turn it up to 300 to get the other half of the pancakes to cook, then it will suddenly heat up really fast and burn them. Also, the heating coil is around the outside, and if I cook eggs the ones in the center don't cook at all while the ones around the edges get over-cooked. I really wish I had saved the box so I could return it! I am looking for a heavier griddle that will distribute the heat more evenly. I had one by Presto that was heavy and a pain to clean but it cooked wonderfully for years! I wish I could find another one like it now.

Purchased at Walmart only to find two of the edges shattered right out if the box. I exchanged for another one to find that one crackled along one edge. The edges are made of cheap plastic. These were brand new still in the original packaging. I am returning the second one and finding another brand. Do not recommend!

It works well when it works. But the power cord is pretty loose and tends to just come off sometimes..

We got this as a wedding gift and have used it several times. Without fail it heats up so hot that it smokes and our smoke detector goes off, then it stops heating and does not cook pancakes unless you are willing to go through the process again. Then you have burned pancakes. Sending it to the cabin. Would not buy another rival product.

I am a frequent user of my griddle. In fact, I have "worn out" several over the years. I now own one of these and I am shopping for a new griddle-AGAIN! I agree with the user review from about a year ago that said that the temperature regulation on this griddle is frightening. The thermostat (or whatever controls the amount of heat) is so inconsistent that I feel I can never walk away from it for fear of something catching on fire while I'm away. Pancakes cook normally at 350 degrees, but this griddle control has to be set between 300 & 325....maybe. Sometimes it doesn't cook at that setting, so I have to turn it up a bit. First thing you know, the pancakes are toast-burnt. On the other hand, if you set it at 350 and put the pancakes on, in about a minute and a half (should take 3 minutes per side), the pancakes are burnt on the edges and raw in the middle. Quesadillas...same thing. Grilled cheese sandwiches-same thing. It's totally a guessing game as to whether or not it's going to cook right or burn the food crispy. I'm afraid to leave the stupid griddle alone-it seems to have a mind of it's own and could go haywire and not shut off. Bottom line? Not worth a plug nickle! Less than a year old and already KAPUT!
