This really is a "large" spatula. The silicone working end is thick/bulky and sturdy. It is not flat. It is nice for stirring or turning batter or other mixtures etc. You can not serve with it at all since it is not flat or indented whatsoever.
The handle is long and easy to manage. It is comfortable to use. The wood does not have any type of coating or laquer on it, so I imagine it will stain and/or warp if not properly cared for.
Overall it is very well made and the color is very pretty. Not a bright purple, but not a light color either. I have bought all of the utensils in this color and I love them all. No flaws or complaints about any of them.
