I have a melamine spoon from many years ago and had been looking for more kitchen utensils of this kind. They are a bit hard to find in the stores. I managed to find one at Home Sense, which turned out to be quite good, but I couldn't find exactly the same one. I figured out that the material is melamine from the new spoon I purchased, so I ended up finding Golda's spoons online. These are sturdy and are exactly what I was looking for. Thanks to Golda's for making them available.

I did read some information online about the melamine material being potentially harmful. Go to wikipedia or do your own searching online if you have any concerns about it. For it to be an issue, the material has to breakdown and be ingested or inhaled. I've used the other spoon for over 20 years and it hasn't harmed me yet.

Inexpensive and sturdy, this slotted spoon won't stain and has a good-sized 'bowl' for pulling veggies and beans out of liquid. I find that melamine is better than nylon at minimizing 'cling' from dressings and sauces (think potato salad or bechamel) so there's less of my dishes sticking to the utensil.

I love that it's dishwasher-safe, and the bright color contrasts helpfully from the food it stirs and serves.
