I ordered this because I know of Adcraft's reputation as a restaurant supplier and was curious about their cast iron pan, which is said to be commercial grade. It came in an plain postal box with no instructions or country of origin notice. This pan is NOT preseasoned, but I know how to season even a bare cast iron pan as I own several other pieces. I was surprised by the smoothness of the finish--smoother than the Chinese pans I own and even smoother than the Lodge ones. The weight was maybe slightly less heavy than the others, but that is judged by "feel" only. There is a helper handle on the one side that is nice. I have been putting layers of seasoning on the pan, which was a metallic gray and had some manufacturing grease on it when I got it, which is standard for unseasoned cast iron. The seasoning is taking well. The pans heats evenly and retains heat well-typical of cast iron. I think this is a great cast iron pan, every bit as good as any other unseasoned cast iron pan.
Update July 2012: I am very impressed with how well the seasoning is taking on this pan. I have not had it a month yet and it now has a shiny black patina inside--after being unseasoned when I got it. Very nice.
