Surprisingly light and thin but with plenty of cooking surface, this griddle is perfect for saving space in the kitchen. There's enough surface area to cook eggs, pancakes and bacon for our whole family at once, so everyone gets a hot breakfast. When we're finished cooking, we pop it into the dishwasher for easy cleaning and store it in the cupboard with our cookie sheets.

It heats up quickly and has an even temperature across the entire surface with no noticeable hot and cool spots. So far it has been sturdy and reliable. For the ~$18 we paid for it, this griddle was an excellent value. I would recommend this item.

Great size for two people. Heats up fast with evenly heated cooking surface. Great for home use and fits perfectly in our 5th wheel for vacation use. Able to fit 4 large pancakes on surface with no problem. Considered the "liddle griddle" at first and are glad that we decided on the larger 16 inch Presto Cool Touch griddle instead. Well made and should hold up to years of use.

My mom was given this griddle as a gift and after using hers, I just had to purchase my own. It is great for making breakfast and the fact that it can be fully submerged in water makes cleanup easy.

Two years ago my wife and I purchased a Presto Electric Griddle, not knowing if we'd use it. A couple of months ago, someone dropped it and the handle broke, so we threw it away. It struck me almost immediately how often I used the griddle, when I'd go to reach for it in the cupboard and it wasn't there! We bought this one, the same model we had previously, from Amazon.

The chief reason I use it is to cook breakfast for my family every Saturday morning. I can do half a pound of bacon on it, and it cooks it very well and fairly quickly, at just the right temperature. After the first batch, just shove the hot grease into the drain pan and lay on another half pound. After the bacon is all done, and the grease has been removed, I take a wet rag and wipe off the surface of the griddle to clean it. Then I cook the pancakes–six at a time, all of them evenly cooked. Sometimes I'll even do the eggs on it, depending on how many I'm cooking. The kids like them scrambled, and there isn't much of an edge guard so if you aren't careful you'll spill them over the edge or drain them into the drain pan.

A few observations that may be helpful:

1) I'm currently cooking breakfast for five of us, but we have two babies that will soon be enjoying bacon, pancakes, and eggs with us. The griddle is a little small for that quantity of food. However, you have to store it, so if it were much bigger then that would pose other problems.

2) The best way to clean it is to take a rag and wipe the thing clean while it's still warm with a little bit of soap and water.

3) Look for deals on Amazon before buying. I don't think it's worth the MSRP of 39.99 or whatever it is, but at anywhere between 20 and 30 dollars on sale, you'll get your money's worth. (And you will get your money's worth at 40 dollars too, but if you can get it cheaper, why not wait?)

In short, I love the griddle and think you will too!

Once I found the perfect recipe to make beautiful golden, light, high-rise pancakes, I knew I needed an electric griddle that would accommodate large 5"-6" pancakes. This Presto handles the golden part just fine, but it's not big enough to handle more than two IHOP-sized pancakes at a time. So I've opted to order a second one, which will add to my griddle real estate, and produce the golden tan pancakes that I've come to love. I like the presto because it maintains its temperature and the plate is heated uniformly with no hotspots. The non-stick surface allows me to use less butter. Presto makes larger griddles, but having two of the smaller size seems to work well for my purposes.

Edited: Nov 30, 2012: I've been asked for the recipe of the perfect pancake. So here it is:

The Perfect Pancake

Important: Mix the batter as little as possible. Lumpy is good. Over mixing causes the moisture to combine with the gluten in the flour to form glue that prevents the gas (formed by the baking soda) from letting the pancakes rise as they cook. So stir as little as possible to just mix the ingredients.

1. Mix the following dry ingredients in a bowl:

2 ½ cups all purpose flour

¼ cup of granulated sugar

2 teaspoons baking powder

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon kosher salt

2. In a different separate bowl, mix the following wet ingredients:

2 cups buttermilk

2 cups sour cream

2 large eggs scrambled

4 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

3 tablespoons sweet cream butter, melted

3. Add the mixed dry ingredients to the bowl of wet ingredients. Stir until just blended, but still lumpy. (Do not over mix)

4. Preheat Presto griddle to 350-degrees. Pour batter by ¼ -cupfulls onto griddle.
