I bought this, thinking I would use this only occasionally and so did not need a high end pan. But I was looking for cast iron, wanted the enamel coating, and liked the folding handle on this one. A little research on Le Cuistot showed they supposedly were ok but a cheaper alternative than top of the line pans made in France.
Received it very promptly and the box was in acceptable condition. Upon opening the box, I first noticed the casting quality was marginal...some ridges on the grill surface were very rough and not fully formed--but usable and minimally acceptable to me since I was looking for a less expensive pan.
The second thing I noticed was that the "enamel" coating covering the pan was flaking off like cheap paint in two or three places on the pan, exposing the raw cast iron underneath, on the cooking surface. Little flakes all over. Five seconds out of the box.
Umm...no. Sent back immediately. The grill pan was quite tough to clean for me, but amazingly I found that the handle didn't get that hot.
